Welcome to our website
Hi we're Tom and Sandy Kappes. We have been regular visitors to the Orlando area since 1985, just prior to the birth of our first child. During the early visits to Orlando we stayed in various hotel chains but as our family has continued to grow (we now have 4 children) we quickly out grew these accommodations. We then needed two hotel rooms. As the price of lodging continued to go up our ability to afford nicer accommodations (now two rooms) diminished but our desire to travel did not. Eventually we found ourselves trying to squeeze the two of us and our four young children back into one hotel room. After spending all day at the theme parks who wants to squeeze into a hotel room whether it's on Disney property or not? I would sometimes see advertising for single family home rentals in the late 1990's for incredible rental rates therefore I thought it must be a scam. How could anyone offer a whole house in a very nice resort for the price of a moderately priced room on Disney property? After all a hotel room is 300-400 square feet vs. 2000 square feet for the same price? Eventually we began to lose some desire to travel. We found that we were traveling less. We have always felt memories are extremely important so we started traveling again but found ourselves in the same situation. One day we were walking through one of the Disney theme parks and saw Disney Vacation Club booth, we stopped then toured their vacation club (Old Key West) and decided to join. We loved our trips but wanted to travel with other family members as well. We never seemed to have enough Disney Vacations points to do the things we wanted to do with our extended families. Getting ready to go to the parks was always a bit challenging adding two or more to the equation would just add more stress. After all, we travelled to Disney to get away from stress. As our parents continued to age our desire to travel with them had continued to increase, after all we want our children to have fond memories with their grand parents. We thought about taking them to Disney Vacation Club resorts but it seemed a little crowded with just our immediate family and adding two or more would again be like staying in a cramped hotel room. I decided I was going to look further into these single family home rentals. We liked what we saw on paper so much we decided to buy one. (This was a new development being built) That was in 2003. In 2004 we settled on our first house in Windsor Hills, we immediately planned a family reunion went down and had a great time. There was one major problem, the rentals were suppose to help pay our mortgage. The problem was the clubhouse and the ammenties were still under construction and therefore there were no rentals so we decided to sell. That was a heart wrenching decision. We had finally had plenty of room but due to circumstances had to sell. We never gave up on our dream though, we decided to revisit Windsor Hills again in 2007, by then the ammenities were open and the place was "jumping". This place was fantastic. We got the "bug" again . We decided to do our homework and looked around at other short term rental communities and as suspected there nothing that even came close. Windsor Hills had just started a new section "The Reserve" and although the model had the same floor plan and elevation as our previous home in Windsor Hills, there was no comparsion. The reserve section set a whole new standard both inside and out. Tile roofs, upgraded lawnscaping, upgraded tile, lighting fixtures, hardware, doors, granite counter tops, 42" cabinets and stainless steel appliances. Well we were sold. We decided to purchase a 5 bedroom 5 bath pool/spa home that was under construction. (since it was in a great location with in the resort) We spent every spare minute planning what decor was going to be in each room. If our reservations are an indication it turned out fabulous. (we started booking in October of 2007) . While we were furnishing our 5 bedroom we kept admiring the 6 bedroom across the street but someone else had a contract on it. I had told the salesperson jokingly that if the 6 bedroom came available to let me know. About 2 months later she called. We had booked out half of the dates for 2008 in the 1st month of owning the 5 bedroom so it seemed logical to purchase our 6 bedroom. Both homes are furnished to the very highest standard. Since we can't be down there all the time we are opening our homes up to families like yours in the hopes that your family will have special memories as we have had.
Thanks Tom & Sandy
